Bottle or so-called nipple drinkers are considered hygienic way, rats to make water available, because impurities are prevented. However, this watering can also have some drawbacks:
- impractical to fill
- difficult to keep clean
- difficult to attach to the cage
- begin to leak
- stiff outlet balls / nipples
We have the Savic Source 600 ml more precisely under the microscope and tested for some time.
The first impression is positive: The bottle above has a large opening, However, the lid does not close tightly. If the Bottle So once falls (which unfortunately occurs in the fixing - more on that later), it runs from. The large opening allows a good cleaning of the bottle. However, the outlet pipe and the nipple can not be cleaned. The bottom of the bottle is flat, so that they can also turn off.
One of the major problem areas of water bottle the attachment. The outlet tube is inserted through the grating, where it rests, the watering place then from the outside with a rubber band, at the end there are hooks, fixed. The rubber band is very stable, but it is only by a node, forming a thickening, held in the hook. These nodes can easily be solved - when this happened to me a few times and the bottles have crashed. This leads to a large puddle, because the lid as mentioned above includes not waterproof. After some time the use of the Gumiband can wear out. When buying you have to be aware of this, that the fastening rubber is contained, because it easily falls out of the bottle with the just not tight-fitting lid apparently with shippers and pet stores (came with me once before ordering).
with us so far is not yet a problem with leaking Savic Source Water Bottles occurred. Another major drawback is, however,, that the nipple of the bottle is very stiff. Especially young rats or other small rodents such as e.g.. Dwarf hamster will have problems, to move the nipple so, that water is released.
The Savic Source drinking bottle is e.g.. Fressnapf available.
